AG Nominal Diameters and Project Shell Dimensions

The model suffix identifies nominal shell diameter. Mill length, drive, discharge and liner layout vary by project.

A diameter series may include different lengths, drive types and discharge arrangements. Liners and spare parts cannot be matched by diameter alone.

Wear Parts

Feed, Shell, Head and Discharge Wear Systems

Each position has different impact, abrasion, slurry erosion and material processing requirements. Follow the links to the relevant parts and materials.

Feed throat liner identification image
01

Feed Throat Liner

Throat Liner

Protects the feed throat from ore impact, abrasion and slurry erosion. Check inside and outside diameters, length, flange, hole pattern, rotation direction and feed interface.

Material Selection: Assess chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, manganese steel or rubber composite construction for impact, wear, corrosion and replacement method.

Inner head liner identification image
04

Inner Head Liners

Inner Head Liner

Protects the inner head ring and interfaces with the throat, grates or pulp lifters. Check radial position, curvature, segmentation, hole pattern, rotation direction and adjacent interfaces.

Material Selection: Assess chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, manganese steel or rubber composites for impact, slurry corrosion and head wear.

Discharge grate identification image
05

Discharge Grate

Discharge Grate

Controls passage of slurry and correctly sized particles. Check aperture design, open area, segmentation, curvature, hole pattern, rotation direction, blockage and wear records.

Material Selection: Assess chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, manganese steel or rubber composites for impact, wear and aperture retention. Consider high-chromium cast iron only where specified by the drawing and validated for the duty.

06

Intermediate Liners

Middle Liner

Fits in a transition zone of the head or discharge system. Check installation level, inner or outer ring, curvature, segmentation, hole pattern and relationship to adjacent pulp lifters.

Material Selection: Assess chromium-molybdenum alloy steel, manganese steel or composite construction for impact and wear at the specific position.

Spare Parts

Girth Gears and Pinions

Check geared installations against the complete project configuration. Gearless drives do not use the girth gear and pinion arrangement.

Girth gear identification image
01

Girth Gear

Girth Gear / Ring Gear

Meshes with the pinion to transmit main drive power. Check module, tooth count, pressure angle, helix angle, split joints, mounting distance and contact pattern.

Material Selection: Confirm cast steel or forged transmission alloy steel, heat treatment, machining accuracy, NDT and matched-pair inspection against the original design.

Drive pinion identification image
02

Drive Pinion

Pinion

Meshes with the girth gear to transmit motor and gearbox output. Check module, tooth count, pressure angle, helix direction, shaft interfaces, backlash and contact pattern.

Material Selection: Confirm forged transmission alloy steel and carburizing or quench-and-temper treatment for torque, tooth surface hardness, core toughness and fatigue.

Drawing and Spare Part Numbers

Confirm AG Drawing Numbers and Third-Party Part References

Provide CITIC AG installed part numbers, general arrangements, liner layouts or part drawings to confirm the model, position and drawing revision.

Selection Guidelines: Check OEM drawing numbers and third-party references separately against the model, shell dimensions, installation position and drawing revision.

Does AG-122 identify a single mill length and drive arrangement?

No. A diameter series may include different project lengths, discharge arrangements, liner layouts and drive types. Check project documents, nameplates and general arrangement drawings.

Are AG and SAG mill liners directly interchangeable?

No. Even with similar shell diameters, confirm mill type, length, layout, profile, hole pattern, lifter height, rotation direction, material and drawing revision.

How can CITIC AG parts be identified without a drawing number?

Submit the nameplate, shell diameter × length, general arrangement, installation position, used part photographs, liner layout and critical dimensions to assess identification, dimensional survey and manufacturing feasibility.
