Natural rubber, synthetic rubber, cast polyurethane and rubber-metal composites differ in chemistry, hardness, resilience, tear resistance, hydrolysis resistance and fluid compatibility. Match the material to particle size, impact angle, velocity, temperature, oils or reagents, and structural deformation.

Rubber and Rubber-metal Mill Liners

Part
Shell liners, lifters, end liners, grates, pulp lifters, and feed and discharge liners.
Required Properties
Absorb ball and ore impact while reducing noise and weight. Metal inserts retain lifting profiles and provide localized wear resistance.

Check mill diameter, speed, ball charge, maximum lump size, liner profile, fastening design and rubber-to-metal bonding.

Elastomeric Slurry Pump and Hydrocyclone Wet-end Parts

Part
Pump casing liners, front and rear liners, throatbushes and selected impellers; hydrocyclone barrel and cone liners, spigots and vortex finders.
Required Properties
Resilience resists particle impact and slurry erosion. Match slurry chemistry to control swelling, ageing and hydrolysis.

For sharp coarse particles, high speeds, oily reagents or high temperatures, compare hard metal, synthetic rubber and specialized PU options.

03 · SCREENING

Polyurethane Screen Panels and Moulded Wear Parts

Part
Modular PU screen panels, rail seats and hold-down strips, hydrocyclone liners, flotation rotors and stators, and pump parts for fine-particle service.
Required Properties
Combine fine-particle sliding wear resistance, resilience, dimensional stability and controlled apertures while accounting for tear and hydrolysis limits.

Polyester and polyether PU, casting process, hardness and service medium differ. A quotation requires more than the description "polyurethane".

Compounding, Manufacturing and Quality Control

Finished elastomer properties depend on compounding, mixing or casting, vulcanization or curing, metal preparation and bonding. Shore hardness alone cannot establish performance.

Raw Materials and Compounds

Specify rubber or PU type, batch, fillers, fluid compatibility and temperature limits. Formulations may remain proprietary, but acceptance properties must be defined.

Vulcanization / Curing

Control mixing, degassing, mould temperature, vulcanization and post-curing to prevent undercure, overcure, bubbles and localized property variation.

Metal Reinforcement and Bonding

Check blast preparation, primer, insert location, rubber cover thickness and interface integrity. Assess debonding and fatigue risks in composite parts.

Dimensions and Properties

Inspect hardness, density, tensile and tear properties, resilience, abrasion, dimensions and appearance against the specification. Select compatibility tests for the actual slurry.
