Locking Cylinder Assembly

Locks the adjustment ring or bowl after setting, preventing rotation and discharge setting drift during operation.

Locking Cylinder Assembly

Locking Cylinder Assembly (Clamping Cylinder Assembly)— Cone Crushers Wear part, position 16.

Installation and Function

Installation PositionAt the circumferential locking positions around the adjustment ring, labelled Clamping Cylinder in FLS section A.
Main FunctionLocks the adjustment ring or bowl after setting, preventing rotation and discharge setting drift during operation.
Replacement FrequencyLow replacement frequency for the assembly and medium for seals. Service for pressure loss, external or internal leakage, cylinder damage or unsynchronised operation.

Materials and Mechanical Properties

ItemDetails
Material OptionsQuenched and tempered alloy steel cylinder body and piston, wear-resistant guides and matching seals such as NBR/HNBR/PU
Typical Properties and Acceptance CriteriaSpecify cylinder strength, bore finish, piston rod surface, seal extrusion clearance, pressure retention and contamination resistance for the maximum system pressure and duty cycles. Acceptance checks include material traceability, dimensions, NDT, pressure and leakage tests, and seal kit identification. A locknut and a clamping cylinder are different spare parts.
Principal Failure MechanismAbrasion, fatigue, corrosion or assembly damage; use photographs of failed parts from the site to identify the dominant mechanism

Material and Design Considerations

  • Identify material hardness, particle size, abrasiveness, moisture, temperature, pH, impact and tramp material;
  • High hardness does not replace core toughness, fatigue strength, corrosion resistance or high-temperature performance;
  • For composite, hardfaced, ceramic and elastomer designs, assess substrate bonding, edge protection, fastening and maintainability;
  • For parts that mate with shafts, gears, seals, roll surfaces or housings, control fits, tolerances, surface finish and assembly clearances together;
  • Assess material upgrades using cumulative throughput, dimensional wear, failure modes, product quality and downtime costs.

Required Ordering / RFQ Information

  • Equipment manufacturer, machine model, serial number, part number and latest drawing revision;
  • Part dimensions, unit weight, key tolerances, assembly and fastening method;
  • Current material, chemical composition, heat treatment, hardness and mechanical property reports;
  • Processed material, maximum particle size, hardness/abrasiveness, moisture and tramp material records;
  • Speed, load, temperature, pressure, process medium chemistry and continuous operating time;
  • Failure photographs, wear measurements, crack/fracture locations and current service life;
Materials and values are for preliminary engineering selection. Final chemical composition, heat treatment, hardness and dimensional tolerances must follow the OEM drawings and technical agreement.
