Typical Properties and Acceptance Criteria	The curtain must resist tearing, cutting, oil, temperature and flex fatigue while retaining dimensional stability. Select hardness together with curtain thickness, fixing method and movement clearance. Excessive hardness reduces conformity and flex life; an overly soft curtain may be caught by moving parts.
Principal Failure Mechanism	Abrasion, fatigue, corrosion or assembly damage; use photographs of failed parts from the site to identify the dominant mechanism

Material and Design Considerations

Identify material hardness, particle size, abrasiveness, moisture, temperature, pH, impact and tramp material;
High hardness does not replace core toughness, fatigue strength, corrosion resistance or high-temperature performance;
For composite, hardfaced, ceramic and elastomer designs, assess substrate bonding, edge protection, fastening and maintainability;
For parts that mate with shafts, gears, seals, roll surfaces or housings, control fits, tolerances, surface finish and assembly clearances together;
Assess material upgrades using cumulative throughput, dimensional wear, failure modes, product quality and downtime costs.
