Specify elastomer hardness, tensile and tear properties, and compression set for temperature, grease and fluid compatibility. Metal labyrinth parts require controlled coaxiality, runout, seal clearances and surface finish. Bearing clearance, journal grooves and incorrect greasing can greatly shorten seal life. |
