Production Processes and Wear

Gypsum processing lines and wear points

Explore equipment and wear parts by material characteristics, process stage and wear location.

Gypsum has low hardness, but processing lines still face several wear and reliability challenges:

Wet, sticky ore can bridge in bins and plug crushers and screens. Fine powder and changing moisture affect seals, screws, duct bends and bearings. Calcination temperature and residence time determine the calcium sulphate hemihydrate phase, linking equipment materials to product chemistry. Natural gypsum, flue-gas-desulphurization gypsum (FGD) and other by-products differ in moisture, chlorides, particle size and impurities. Board production emphasizes slurry build-up, paper contamination, dryer thermal cycles, cutting wear and continuous operation rather than large-lump impact.

Prioritize plugging and build-up control, dust sealing, corrosion resistance and cleanability. High-chromium iron should not be applied indiscriminately across the process.
