Select Screening Media for the Screen Type

Selection and drawing-based supply of screen mesh, panels, liners and support spares. MD screens use woven wire mesh; dewatering screens use heavy-duty polyurethane media. Their apertures, supports and fixing systems require different parts.

Standard Models and Key Dimensions

MD Types and Dewatering Screen Configurations

Provide the full model, deck, screen width and length, aperture, wire diameter or panel thickness, and fixing method.

TypeDecks / Excitation ConfigurationScreening Media and Dimensions
MD Type DMTwo eccentric vibratory motors; commonly 5 decksWoven wire mesh; check apertures for each deck
MD Type SMOne eccentric vibratory motor; 1–4 decksWoven wire mesh; check tensioning edges and screen frame
MD Type DMXTwo eccentric vibratory motors; typically 3–5 decksLarge multi-deck models; check the installed configuration
MD Size RangeConfigured for the model and applicationScreen widths of 19–78 in (approximately 48–198 cm as stated by the OEM)
Dewatering ScreenCounter-rotating vibratory motors; mechanical exciters on larger installationsPolyurethane screening media and longitudinal support system; match the installation drawing

The MD width range does not specify each model's dimensions. Confirm apertures, decks and drive parameters from the nameplate and screen drawings.

Wear Parts

Screen Mesh, Panels and Material Flow Protection

Select MD woven wire mesh and dewatering screen polyurethane panels separately. The screening media images below illustrate generic products, not McLanahan OEM parts.

01

MD Woven Wire Screen Mesh

Woven Wire Screen Mesh

For MD dry classification; check the deck, aperture, wire diameter, effective width and length, and tensioning edges.

Materials and Operating Conditions: The OEM lists mild carbon steel and stainless steel mesh. Select the material for abrasion and corrosion conditions.

Dewatering Screen Polyurethane Panels

Polyurethane Dewatering Panels

For dewatering screens, not a direct replacement for MD woven mesh. Check apertures and longitudinal support connections.

Materials and Operating Conditions: Polyurethane combines elasticity with wet abrasion resistance. Panel stiffness and connection strength must support the heavy material bed.

Frame, Support, Tensioning and Excitation Parts

MD screens use direct motor excitation without conventional reducers, pulleys or belts. Check mechanical exciters on large dewatering screens against their nameplates.

Screen Frames, Crossmembers and Longitudinal Supports

Deck Frames & Supports

Check the MD frame or dewatering screen longitudinal support system separately. Provide sections, mounting-hole spacing and connection drawings.

Materials and Operating Conditions: Confirm structural materials, welding and fatigue requirements from the original design; select protective liner materials separately.

Screen Mesh Tensioning and Panel Fixings

Tensioning & Panel Fixings

For MD screens, check tensioning edges and optional pneumatic tensioning. For dewatering screens, check longitudinal polyurethane connections.

Materials and Operating Conditions: Match metal fasteners and elastomeric connectors separately to the mounting design.

Support Springs and Elastomeric Elements

Support Springs & Elastic Elements

Check free height, outside diameter, stiffness, quantity and mounting positions to preserve the screen's vibration characteristics.

Materials and Operating Conditions: Identify the rubber plugs inside MD compression springs separately from the load-bearing spring steel elements.

Can MD screen mesh be replaced with dewatering screen polyurethane panels?

No direct substitution is possible. The applications, motion, decks and fixing systems differ. Select the screening media from the specific screen model and installation drawing.
