Legacy installations, component positions and material selection in one place

RollSizer applies shear and tension at low speed and high torque. CenterSizer crushes between the rolls; SideSizer crushes between roll teeth and side combs. This page identifies legacy wear parts and spares; project configurations do not establish universal interchangeability.

RollSizer DRS standard series and principal dimensions

The table follows the historical thyssenkrupp RollSizers brochure and DRS 1000 × 3000 C data sheet. Capacity, power, feed and weight depend on material, tooth profile, Center/Side arrangement and project configuration.

Series numbers and roll length support preliminary identification. Before manufacture confirm the full model suffix, serial number, tooth profile and rows, breaker-bar option, drive arrangement and drawing revision.

Wear Parts

Chamber wear parts, positions and materials

Identify tooth segments, rings, breaker bars, side combs, liners and fasteners separately. Each card links to the corresponding component and material pages.

Replaceable tooth / tooth segment
01

Replaceable tooth / tooth segment

Replaceable Tooth Pick / Tooth Segment

Teeth surround both rolls; profile, row count, axial position and roll spacing determine gripping and discharge. Confirm CenterSizer/SideSizer, full model, tooth sequence and installed drawings.

Material selection: OEM literature specifies wear-resistant steel selected for the duty. Confirm grade, hardness and reinforcement from drawings and actual impact and abrasion conditions.

Complete replaceable tooth ring
02

Complete replaceable tooth ring

Replaceable Tooth Ring

CenterSizer may use complete tooth rings or individual replaceable blocks. Check diameter, axial width, interfaces, rotation direction and tooth arrangement together.

Material selection: Assess alloy cast steel and local reinforcement; final material, heat treatment, NDT and life targets follow the original drawing.

Side crushing comb / cleaner
04

Side crushing comb / cleaner

Side Crushing Comb / Cleaner

SideSizer teeth and adjustable side combs form the discharge gap. Confirm tooth profile, comb position, gaps and fixing holes against the installed arrangement.

Material selection: Comb teeth need impact toughness, edge wear resistance and fixing strength. Similar appearance or hardness alone is insufficient for replacement.

Chamber side liners
05

Chamber side liners

Side Liner / Wear Protection Plate

Housing and chamber liners protect structures and maintain working clearances. Confirm CenterSizer/SideSizer layout, thickness, holes and edge profile.

Material selection: Select quenched-and-tempered wear plate or cast wear parts for material hardness, impact and sliding wear; verify welding and countersunk-hole requirements.

Tooth segment fasteners
06

Tooth segment fasteners

Tooth Segment Fastener

Fasteners clamp and locate tooth blocks, rings or mounting bases under cyclic impact and vibration. Confirm thread, head, strength grade, preload and locking together.

Material selection: Specify high-strength alloy steel, heat treatment, mechanical properties and corrosion protection from drawings. Check fasteners with tooth segments as mating interfaces.

Spare Parts

Roll shafts, supports and drive spares

Drive components are separate from wear parts. Confirm shafts, bearing housings, gearboxes and synchronizing systems against installed interfaces, loads and drawings.

Crushing roll shaft assembly
01

Crushing roll shaft assembly

Crushing Roll Shaft Assembly

Includes the shaft, segment mounting zones, end connections and bearing seats. Confirm spacing, length, tooth profile, shaft position, rotation direction and complete shafting drawings.

Material selection: Confirm shaft material, forging route, heat treatment, NDT, fit tolerances and surface quality against the drawing and torque loads.

Heavy-duty gearbox
03

Heavy-duty gearbox

Heavy-Duty Gearbox

OEM DRS documentation uses custom heavy-duty gearboxes with synchronized single-drive or twin-drive arrangements. Confirm ratio, input/output interfaces, side and lubrication before quotation.

Material selection: Confirm gear and shaft materials, carburizing or quench-and-temper treatment, tooth accuracy and inspection from nameplates, drawings or traceable samples.

Drive connections and synchronizing stage
04

Drive connections and synchronizing stage

Drive Connection & Synchronizing Stage

DRS configurations may use one drive with a synchronizing stage or two independent drives. Identify shafts, couplings, synchronizing gears and guards from the actual layout.

Material selection: Specify materials and heat treatment for torque, impact, fits and fatigue life. Similar appearance cannot replace interface checks.

Is DRS 1000 enough to identify a tooth segment?

No. Confirm roll length, C/S arrangement, row count, profile, breaker bar, shaft position, serial number and drawing revision.

Do CenterSizer and SideSizer use the same wear parts?

Not entirely. CenterSizer mainly crushes between the rolls; SideSizer forms the working gap between teeth and side combs. Check segments, side liners and fixings separately.

Why link both thyssenkrupp and FLS?

This page records thyssenkrupp Mining Technologies installations from before 2022. The business joined FLS in 2022, so both legacy nameplate identity and current succession must be retained.
