Brand and History

From Machine Building in Dessau to Polysius Process Equipment

Brand history helps identify current and legacy installations. Manufacturing and quotation require the equipment nameplate, complete model, serial number, drawing number, revision and actual interfaces.

1859 Gottfried Polysius opened a locksmith and metalworking shop in Dessau, which developed into a machinery manufacturing business.
1898 Polysius records the manufacture of its first rotary kiln in Europe, establishing a foundation for its subsequent cement equipment technology.
1971 Fried. Krupp GmbH acquired a majority interest, bringing Polysius into a larger engineering and financial group.
1985 The polycom® high-pressure grinding roll entered the market and became a core Polysius product for interparticle comminution.
1999 Krupp and Thyssen merged to form ThyssenKrupp AG. This marks a group merger, not the founding of the Polysius brand.
2022 The Cement Technologies business unit adopted the Polysius name again, continuing the historic brand and services for installed equipment.
2023 thyssenkrupp Polysius became part of the Decarbon Technologies segment.
