Provide the equipment nameplate, complete model and existing part number so that the installation position and drawings can be checked.
Confirm dimensions by measuring the sample or using the customer drawing. Cross-check the drawing revision against the model on the equipment nameplate.
Select the material grade and heat treatment for the operating conditions, processed material and equipment specifications. The options below are commonly used; confirm the final grade against the drawing and technical agreement.
Solution-treated, water-quenched high-manganese wear steel; the degree of work hardening depends on impact loading and actual operating conditions.
A high-manganese steel option; compare it with Mn13Cr2 using impact severity, material abrasiveness and actual wear records.
For low-to-moderate impact and high sliding wear; verify hardness against the specific grade, thickness and material certificate.
Metso's proprietary manganese alloy uses a tailored carbon content and alloy composition to balance toughness and wear resistance.
Common wear patterns and maintenance guidance are outlined below. Determine replacement intervals from operating conditions, processed material and equipment performance data.
Assess replacement against the arm guard remaining-thickness limit in the drawing. Replace if through-cracks, extensive spalling or bolt hole wear causing fastening failure occurs.
Materials, heat treatment, composite construction and inspection requirements depend on the specific drawing, operating conditions and technical review.
Mn13Cr2 and Mn18Cr2 high-manganese steels, Hardox 400 wear plate, and other specified materials
Solution heat treatment with water quenching. Final hardness and microstructure must meet the drawing and agreed technical specification.
Weld Hardox wear plate using an approved procedure for the grade and thickness. Select consumables, preheat, interpass temperature and repair limits in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the drawing.
Manufacture to drawings produced from part measurements or supplied by the customer. Critical mating surface tolerances follow OEM requirements. Use UT/MT inspection to assess castings for shrinkage porosity and cracks against the agreed acceptance criteria.
Parts with the same name may not be interchangeable because of differences in machine model, drawing revision, mounting interface or material specification. Use the complete model, serial number, drawing number and drawing before manufacture.
