Wear parts

Check valves, seats, diaphragms, seals and thermal-isolation components

The manufacturer identifies check valves as the principal wear parts in direct contact with slurry. Diaphragms, seals and cylinder liners require separate assessment according to their isolation, pressure-retaining and maintenance functions; they should not all be treated as ordinary pump liners.

01

Suction and discharge check valves

Suction & Discharge Non-return Valves

Check valves are the main wear components in direct contact with abrasive slurry. Confirm the pump model, valve position, flow direction, body connections, internal valve design, pressure and medium.

Material assessment: Select materials for the body, valve internals and elastomeric parts separately, considering abrasion, corrosion, temperature, particles and cyclic impact. No universal grade is specified without a controlled drawing.

02

Valve seats, guides and springs

Valve Seat, Guide & Spring

Valve-seat sealing faces withstand particle erosion and repeated impact; guides and springs control opening and closing. Confirm the suction or discharge side, installation direction, mating dimensions and complete valve assembly.

Material assessment: Candidate materials must balance hardness, toughness, corrosion resistance and sealing-face stability. Heat treatment, surface quality and fit tolerances are equally important.

03

Preformed diaphragms

Preformed Diaphragm

The diaphragm separates abrasive slurry from the piston, cylinder liner and hydraulic side. When ordering, confirm the pump model, diaphragm chamber, profile, clamping interface, stroke, medium, temperature and replacement history.

Material assessment: Both pump design and operating conditions determine diaphragm material and molded geometry. Outside diameter or the color of a used part alone cannot establish interchangeability.

04

Diaphragm housings, covers and clamping seals

Diaphragm Housing, Cover & Clamp Seal

The housing and cover retain pressure and secure the diaphragm edge. Confirm the pump model, cylinder position, flanges, bolt holes, seal grooves, wetted-side material and pressure rating.

Material assessment: Published pump-body material options include ductile iron, carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel and titanium. Confirm the actual material against the project medium and original configuration.

05

Piston seals and cylinder liners

Piston Seal & Cylinder Liner

Isolated from slurry by the diaphragm, piston seals and cylinder liners operate in hydraulic fluid. Confirm the bore, stroke, seal section, grooves, liner dimensions, surface condition and hydraulic fluid.

Material assessment: Match seal and liner materials, surface hardness and roughness as a system. Replacing only the seal while overlooking a worn liner can leave the underlying problem unresolved.

Heat Barrier separator and cooling section

Heat Barrier Separator & Cooling Section

These components apply only to TZPM HB or ZPM HB high-temperature service. The separator, cooling section and diaphragm section work together to limit heat transfer to moving parts. Do not assume this arrangement applies to standard T/ZPM pumps.

Material assessment: For hot, acidic or corrosive slurry, select housing, piping, valve, seal and diaphragm materials individually according to temperature, pressure and medium.

Is the TZPM or ZPM series name enough to identify valves and diaphragms?

No. Provide the full numeric model, serial number, cylinder position, suction or discharge valve position, pressure, temperature, medium, drawing number, used-part dimensions and maintenance records. Project configurations can differ within the same series.

Are all internal GEHO piston diaphragm pump parts slurry wear parts?

No. The manufacturer explains that the diaphragm isolates slurry from moving parts. Check valves in direct contact with slurry are the main wear parts. Assess diaphragms, seals, cylinder liners, pistons and drive parts separately by function and failure mode.

Why are unconfirmed GEHO OEM part numbers omitted?

Part numbers are published only when supported by traceable manufacturer catalogues, drawings, BOMs or installation records. Send the nameplate, full pump model, drawing number, valve position, and used-part photographs and dimensions for checking.
