Confirm dimensions by measuring the sample or using the customer drawing. Cross-check the drawing revision against the model on the equipment nameplate.
Select the material grade and heat treatment for the operating conditions, processed material and equipment specifications. The options below are commonly used; confirm the final grade against the drawing and technical agreement.
Solution-treated and water-quenched high-manganese steel; surface work hardening depends on impact and contact loading. Verify initial hardness against the material standard and drawing.
Wear-resistant option for highly abrasive feed materials
Confirm Hardox 500 hardness for the specified thickness against the material certificate. It is a candidate material for sliding abrasion.
Forged option; verify the hardened surface layer and core toughness against the specific part drawing.
Common wear patterns and maintenance guidance are outlined below. Determine replacement intervals from operating conditions, processed material and equipment performance data.
Assess remaining feed cone height, thickness and uneven wear against the maintenance manual. Inspect the feed cone when feed distribution becomes uneven or uneven liner wear increases. Use the model-specific wear limits to decide on replacement.
Materials, heat treatment, composite construction and inspection requirements depend on the specific drawing, operating conditions and technical review.
High-manganese steels Mn13Cr2 and Mn18Cr2, Hardox 500 wear plate and other drawing-specified materials
Solution heat treatment with water quenching. Final hardness and microstructure must meet the drawing and agreed technical specification.
Weld Hardox wear plate using an approved procedure for the grade and thickness. Select consumables, preheat, interpass temperature and repair limits in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the drawing.
Verify critical dimensions against the drawing for the OEM part number, including fits, sealing surfaces and oil groove locations. Select nondestructive testing methods for the material, part geometry and technical agreement; MT applies only to suitably magnetizable ferromagnetic materials. Check copper alloy bushing hardness and uniformity as specified in the drawing.
Parts with the same name may not be interchangeable because of differences in machine model, drawing revision, mounting interface or material specification. Use the complete model, serial number, drawing number and drawing before manufacture.
