Installation Position	Near the pinion-shaft arm of the bottom shell, corresponding to location 26 in the FLS cutaway diagram marked on this site.
Main Function	Protects the bottom shell arm and nearby pinionshaft housing structure from falling material wear.
Replacement Frequency	Medium to high replacement frequency; uneven feed and discharge build-up can accelerate local wear considerably.

Typical Properties and Acceptance Criteria	Withstands falling rock impacts and sliding abrasion in the discharge zone. Balance hardness, core toughness, resistance to cracking around holes and reliable fastening. Inspect remaining thickness, hole areas, vulnerable ends, clearance from the pinionshaft housing and bolt locking. Changes in material or thickness must not interfere with the drive shaft housing.

Failure photographs, wear measurements, crack/fracture locations and current service life;
