Intermediate Plates

Intermediate Plate

Identify parts for Metso jaw crushers, check models and drawing numbers, confirm materials and processes, and submit an inquiry.

Equipment, Models and Part Numbers

An intermediate plate changes jaw crusher chamber geometry and nip angle for low feed volumes, smaller feed or slippery material. It reduces the feed opening and maximum setting and may increase crushing forces, so the machine and jaw-die configuration must be checked. Intermediate plates are distinct from adjustment shims and intermediate rods.

Equipment Series

Metso Nordberg C Series Jaw Crushers

Applicable Models

Confirm the intermediate plate option for the equipment model and jaw-die configuration.

Part identification

Metso equipment and part specifications

Intermediate plate identification for ordering

Provide the equipment model, jaw-die configuration and intermediate plate drawing or existing part number to confirm ordering requirements.

Part numbers are identification references for Metso Nordberg C Series machines. Confirm the equipment nameplate, serial number and drawing before ordering.

Materials and Processes

Confirm intermediate plate material, manufacturing process and installation requirements against the specific part drawing.

Carbon steel specification

The intermediate plate must meet chamber load, fit and wear requirements. Generic thin-shim carbon steel grades and thicknesses cannot replace its part specification.

Stainless steel options

Assess alternative materials for support loads, fit and wear; corrosion resistance alone is not a basis for substitution.

Dimensions and configurations

Check thickness, profile, hole positions and jaw dies as a matched configuration. After installation, confirm the feed opening, setting range and allowable operating conditions.

Wear and Replacement Criteria

Inspect intermediate plate contact faces, profile and fastening condition. Determine replacement according to the machine's maintenance specification.

Main failure modes

Inspect contact-face indentation, plastic deformation, edge wear and corrosion, and assess their effects on jaw-die support and chamber geometry.

Replacement Criteria

Address wear, deformation or corrosion affecting support, fit or chamber geometry according to the model-specific maintenance procedure.

Recommended Actions

Clean and inspect mating surfaces during replacement and record the intermediate plate and jaw-die configuration. Verify fasteners and the revised setting range against model requirements.

Information Needed for an Inquiry

Equipment model, such as C140; jaw-die configuration; intermediate plate part number or drawing; thickness and hole positions; material requirements; and quantity.
