The deflector plate at the jaw crusher inlet directs feed toward the chamber centre, reducing uneven loading and direct sidewall impact. Its installation and wear condition affect how effectively the crushing chamber is used.

Hardox Wear-Resistant Steel Plate
Hardox 400/450 and NM400/NM500 may be considered for deflector plates. Check each grade against thickness, impact conditions and the drawing; do not assume direct equivalence.
Manganese steel castings
Mn13Cr2 manganese steel may be considered for impact duties. Verify heat treatment, initial hardness and actual work-hardening response against the drawing and operating conditions.
Composite liners
Ceramic-rubber composite liners may be considered for suitable wear locations after assessment of impact, temperature, attachment and material compatibility. Evaluate life from site operating results.
Wear and Replacement Criteria
Use the following deflector plate wear patterns and replacement considerations during maintenance.
Main wear zones
The leading edge exposed to impact, the face over which material slides, and mounting-bolt heads. Deflector wear can cause uneven feed loading.
Replacement Criteria
Assess remaining thickness against model-specific maintenance limits. Stop and inspect if leading-edge wear changes material flow, or if there is wear-through or cracking.
Recommended Actions
Inspect deflector wear and installation angle regularly. Observe whether feed is distributed evenly across the crushing chamber.
