| Typical Properties and Acceptance Criteria | Carburised designs commonly specify a tooth surface around 58–62 HRC with a tough core. Quenched and tempered designs use lower tooth hardness selected together with the mating gear. Control material cleanliness, forging, case depth, core properties, tooth profile and lead, runout, MT/UT, contact pattern and backlash. Select pinion material as part of the gear pair. |
