Spiral classifiers and screw sand washers are used in mineral processing and aggregates. An inclined screw rotates slowly in a tank, lifting and dewatering settled coarse particles while fines leave with the overflow. Wear is concentrated on the spiral flights and tank walls.

  • Mn13Cr2 manganese steel: a candidate for impact-abrasion duties involving large gravel particles.
  • Hardox 400/500: wear-resistant plate options for highly abrasive zones with lower impact loads.
  • Polyurethane elastomer: typical hardness Shore A 80-95, offering corrosion resistance and noise reduction for suitable wet, fine-particle abrasion duties.
  • YG8/YG15 cemented carbide may be considered for wear tips on spiral-flight edges after suitability assessment. Confirm grade, attachment, impact and abrasion requirements separately, and evaluate life under actual operating conditions.
  • 316L stainless steel: a corrosion-resistant option, subject to compatibility with the process chemistry.
