Medium-Speed Coal Mill

Medium-speed coal pulverizers grind raw coal for boiler firing in thermal power plants. Common designs include bowl mills (RP), roller mills (MPS) and ball-and-race mills (E). Coal is crushed between the grinding elements and the table or ring, while hot air dries and transports the pulverized fuel. Material Information

  • High-chromium cast iron: a candidate material for grinding rolls and rings. Specify composition, carbide structure, heat treatment and hardness for the mill duty and part drawing.
  • Ceramic-reinforced metal matrix composites are used in some coal pulverizer wear parts. Xwin is a proprietary Magotteaux technology. Evaluate replacement parts against the actual material specification and part drawing.
  • Hardox 400/500: wear-resistant plate for housing liners and classifier cones.
  • Cemented carbide (YG15/YG20C): candidate grades for local wear inserts. Confirm separator blade materials, attachment and balancing requirements against the drawing.
