| Typical Properties and Acceptance Criteria | The mainshaft must withstand high- and low-cycle fatigue, bending, torsion and impact. Typical quenched and tempered hardness may be around 260–340 HB, subject to section size and OEM requirements. Acceptance checks focus on steel cleanliness, forging reduction ratio, UT, journal roundness and surface finish, fillets, keyways, straightness, runout and heat treatment uniformity. Journal repair by plating or weld build-up requires engineering review. |
