Common Wear Patterns
- Contact fatigue pitting of tooth flanks
- Tooth scuffing: inadequate lubrication under heavy loads causes localized welding and tearing of metal
- Tooth root bending fatigue cracks
- Tooth abrasion caused by contaminated lubricant
