Rotating discs fluidize the media bed to grind slurry particles by attrition during fine and ultrafine grinding. Disc count and axial spacing affect energy distribution in the chamber, so an individual part quotation must match the complete disc arrangement.

- Centre bore, hub, key/spline or fastening interface
- Disc position numbers, quantities and spacing between adjoining discs

- Grinding media size, density, charge quantity and slurry conditions
Materials and Manufacturing
Solid polyurethane discs
FLS VXPmill literature identifies the rotating discs as solid polyurethane. For the specific formulation, check hardness, abrasion and hydrolysis resistance, tearing, heat buildup under dynamic loading, hub bonding, dimensional stability and operating temperature.
Typical failure checks
Use wear locations to identify material, structural and assembly problems
- Sustained abrasion at disc edges and working surfaces
- Loose or cracked hubs or centre interfaces
- Polyurethane tearing, delamination or damage from dynamic heat buildup
- Disc thickness changes affecting spacing and energy distribution
