Select the material grade and heat treatment for the operating conditions, processed material and equipment specifications. The options below are commonly used; confirm the final grade against the drawing and technical agreement.
Martensitic Wear-Resistant Steel (450-550 HBW)
Select materials to suit OEM specifications and operating conditions; confirm the final grade and heat treatment against the drawing.
Hardox 500 (470-530 HBW)
Select materials to suit OEM specifications and operating conditions; confirm the final grade and heat treatment against the drawing.
Wear and Replacement Criteria
Common wear patterns and maintenance guidance are outlined below. Determine replacement intervals from operating conditions, processed material and equipment performance data.
Common Wear Patterns
- Material impact and friction cause surface wear
- Wear around the fastening bolts causes the liner to loosen
- Wear affects the rotor's dynamic balance
Replacement Criteria
Assess replacement against the liner remaining-thickness limit in the drawing. Inspect and replace if cracks occur or rotor balance is affected.
